This year’s NBA playoffs have been magnificent. There have been eight overtime games in just the first round and five game sevens!
The best moment of the playoffs so far came Friday night when the Portland Trailblazers, up three games to two, were looking to close out its series with the Houston Rockets. Late in the game the Rockets were in good shape. The four seed was looking to complete the daunting task of coming all the way back from a 3-1 series hole and were about to force a game seven. Portland’s point guard Damian Lillard had other plans.
Tied at 96 with under 10 seconds to play in the fourth, Houston’s Chandler Parsons put back a missed shot with just 0.9 seconds to give the Rockets a late 98-96 lead. Portland needed a miracle, and that’s just what they got from Lillard.
DAGGER! There are truly few things in sports that top a series-ending game-winning three at the buzzer.
A fan sitting courtside took an amazing vine of Lillard’s last-second heroics.
The Portland Trailblazers are for real. LaMarcus Aldridge is a top-10 player in the NBA. Damian Lillard keeps doing miraculous things, and he is only in his second full season in the league. This playoffs continues to impress. Remember, Lillard’s game-winning three is not the first of the playoffs either.
Saturday has three game sevens in store. Sunday has two more. Sit back, relax and strap it down, because there are three more rounds of this summer madness.
